Our Commitment to Family Business Governance Advocacy

Championing Family Business Governance as a Cause, Not Just a Service

Family businesses are the backbone of Pakistan’s economy. They account for the majority of private sector employment, a significant share of GDP, and the preservation of wealth and knowledge across generations. And yet they remain, in many respects, underserved, underrepresented, and under-governed.

At Family Biz Solutions, we believe that changing this requires more than family business advisory engagements delivered one family at a time. It requires a broader commitment to building awareness, developing knowledge, and creating the conditions in which family business governance becomes a recognised discipline and a shared priority across the business community.

That is why advocacy is not a peripheral activity for us. It is central to our mission.

Speaking and Education

Our advisors speak regularly at family business conferences, chambers of commerce, business associations, and educational institutions across Pakistan and internationally. These sessions are genuine contributions to the public conversation about family business governance, succession planning, and the specific challenges that family-owned enterprises face.

Academic Contribution

Family Biz Solutions maintains a deep connection to the academic community through its advisors' teaching and program leadership roles at IBA Karachi and Karachi University Business School.
Anas Iftikhar serves as lead faculty for Family Business Governance at IBA's Family Managed Business Program at the Centre for Executive Education. Aysha Anas Iftikhar served as its founding Program Director and faculty. This connection between advisory practice and academic knowledge ensures that our family business governance work is grounded in research as well as experience, and that the next generation of advisors in Pakistan is being developed with the rigour the discipline deserves.

Writing and Thought Leadership

Our advisors write regularly on the topics that matter most to family business owners: succession planning, governance frameworks, the family constitution, generational transitions, and the human dynamics of family business leadership. These contributions are made with the intention of building public knowledge and normalising the conversation about family business governance across Pakistan and beyond.

The Broader Vision

Our advocacy work is driven by a simple belief: that if more Pakistani family businesses had strong governance, clear succession plans, and prepared next-generation leaders, the economic and social impact would be significant. More wealth preserved. More businesses surviving generational transitions. More families intact. More employment sustained.
Family business governance is not a luxury. It is a discipline that every family business, at every stage of development, deserves access to. Making that case, building that awareness, and creating the community of practice around family business governance in Pakistan is work we are committed to, regardless of whether any individual engagement results from it.
